Got Another Tornado In Wakita Oklahoma.

Went on another chase with limited time because I had to go to work in the evening. I got a storm and intercepted it in Wakita Oklahoma. I saw a total of 4 tornadoes, but the best one was the multiple vortex Tornado I saw. I managed to get 3 on video, the 4th one disappeared before I could film it. I have a link to my storm videos to the right. Where it says My Chase Videos, you can click Wakita Tornado to see the Multiple Vortex tornado.

Good Chase in the Texas Panhandle

Went on my first 2010 chase of the year and it turned out to be a good one. I had to work the same night, so I had a limited time to catch a thunderstorm that would produce a tornado. It was April 22nd that I went to the panhandle and set up in a town/city called Mclean. I saw a storm developing to my SSW, so I hit I-40 and headed to Jericho and made the intercept. The storm put on a good lightning show as I drove towards it, then I could see the wall cloud really getting it's act together. I pulled off at Mile marker 121 and got on 70 to find a good spot for filming this storm. It took a little while, but the storm spawned a tornado that would end up passing to my south. I was hoping for it to make a slightly closer pass, but it passed a few hundred yards from my location, which I have no complaints. I managed to get 18 minutes of footage on this tornadic storm. The one glitch I had with filming this tornado was when another chaser blocked me in by parking his car half way on the road in front of my location, so I had to unscrew the camera off my mount and hop out my truck to film the rest of it. Then of all things as I was filming, the drizzle starts blowing towards me, so I had to get back in my truck because I didn't want my lense to get wet. It was a bit aggravating, but I stuck with the tornado instead of going off on the other chaser, or otherwise I wouldn't have got to see as much of the tornado as I did. But I'm still glad I managed to get this tornado, it's really pleasing when you can start off the season and know that you will not get skunked. I had that fear last year, but May 13 saved me when I caught one up in Kay County Oklahoma. I added a 'My YouTube Channel' URL so that you can go to my YouTube channel to see some of my vids. It is located to the right side of my blog page.
